- Is the correct Workset being used?
- Is the view range set correctly to see the particular element?
- Is the object hosted on an incorrect surface like a floor instead of a ceiling?
- Is there a filter applied to the view that is causing the element to be hidden?
- Is the detail level of the view set correctly? Some families are set not to show at Coarse.
- Try using the "Reveal Hidden Elements" tool in the view control bar.
- Is there a plan region in the view?
- Is the view "Discipline" set correctly?
- Is the element in the correct phase and is an appropriate phase filter set in the view to make it visible.
- Is the element part of a design option and perhaps that isn't the current option for that particular view?

Revit Family Tool is Now Free
CAD Technology Center has recently made it Revit Family Tools free.
According to their web page "The Revit Family Tools allow for easy Revit file management. This program has tools for comparing and merging shared parameters, deleting backup files, type catalog tools, and a family file version detector. Download it all now- free of charge!"
Sounds exciting.... well at least there is something in there that will make your life easier, and the no cost thing goes a long way these days.

Revit Palettes - The Family Browser from Kiwi Codes Solutions
A friend passed this on to me and I am passing it out to all of you. The folks at Kiwi Codes Solutions have developed a Family Browser that looks and acts like an AutoCAD palette inside of Revit products.
They are actively working on a new version which should be released early this year. They posted a preview of some of the features that you can watch in this video.
There is a lot of promise in this to make our lives a lot more productive. They are selling the add in on a subscription model. $35 a year for a single license or $250 a year for a single site license. Honestly, it looks like you could easily make that money back in a month.
For more information, check out their website http://kiwicodes.co.nz/FamilyBrowser.aspx .
