Dependent Views

The use of dependent views is invaluable in a MEP model when systems cross match lines. By creating two dependent views of level 1, one can represent the East wing and the other the West wing. Because the two dependent view will share the annotations of the parent view along with all the view settings, systems can be designed and documented in an overall view while the sheet (dependent) views reflect the big picture.

What happens when you want to move on to level 2, 3, and 4? Right click on the the level 1 overall view and select "Apply Dependent Views".
This will bring up a dialog to select views to apply the same dependent views  to. The beauty part? The same crop regions are applied to each of the other selected levels. so sweet!

If for some reason you need to make a dependent view and independent view, right click has got you covered again. This time select "Convert to Independent View".

Project BIMbo

As the Founder and President of the BIM Board of Omaha (commonly known as BIMbo), Imagine my surprise this morning when reading Zach Kron's blog Buildz and seeing the image below.
I shouldn't blame anyone but myself for naming a progressive group of BIM enthusiasts looking to push the envelope such a clever and humorous name. The sad truth is, I am not so clever, or the first person to want to brand something with the BIMbo name.

There are fountain drinks...
Breads....
and ice cream treats...

And from my Friend Robin Z

Clearly, BIM has perminated our society far deeper than I have realized. Go BIM!

Revit Upgrade Plugin Available from Autodesk Labs

Sometimes I think about Autodesk Labs as a group of labrador retrievers that happen to be at Autodesk.
But they are not.

Instead they are a group of talented programmers doing quirking/cool stuff that sometimes makes our lives easier. Every month a new plug-in comes out. This month, enjoy a Revit Upgrade plug-in.
